The Energy of the Tarot: The Wands

This week, we focus on the energy of the Wands Tarot Suit.

• The Suit's Energy - Wands The wands represent the element of fire. When I see the wands, I think of a light airy energy, but like fire, it can burn hot and fast. Wands signal change in the air and new energy. When I see Wands in a spread some of the key words I hear are:

  air/wind, change, joy, enthusiasm, athletic, and impulsive. The Wands energy manifests in our lives in many different ways:

  • Conversations: The wands suit often speaks of new ideas that are cultivated through conversations. We are able to make new plans, express ideas, speak on our own behalf and other life changing conversations

  • Change: Wands represent new experiences and new directions. Getting wands may indicate a change in your situation or a change in your thinking. Either way you'll see movement in your life.

  • Magic: When I see the wands suit, I remember that the most famous wand is the MAGIC wand. I am reminded that all situations can be assisted through spiritual work. Prayer, meditation, herbs, all are represented in the wands (notice that some of the cards have small leaves growing from the wands). Wands remind us of our power to declare change in our lives through spell work and prayer.
    

• The type of People they represent - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius The wands represent innovative people. Think of people who are at the cutting edge of any field. People who embody Wands are creative, energetic, fun, exciting, easily distracted, and optimistic. They are good at seeing things from different angles and are good to consult when you need to find new solutions. Unfortunately, people with wands energy are not good at focusing on the tedious details, so they may benefit from having an assistant to keep them on track.
  

• A spiritual tool that resonates with this suit - Incense Incense is an excellent Wand energy tool. The smoke of the incense carries our prayers and intentions to the heavens. Incense is the astral manifestation of the herbal scent we light. The smell of incense can lighten your mood instantly. Incense as a spiritual tool can't transform the energy of any room.
  

• A spell that addresses the energy of this suit Here's a quick spell to create change in a situation. The purpose of this ritual is to use the symbolism of burning a bay leaf to release your desires into the universe to create change in your situation. Bay leaves bring clarity of thought, but also are used to help manifest our prayers. We use a white tea light candle for clarity, and to elevate our prayers and bring positive energy to your desired situation. You are using the rose incense to elevate your prayers with joy, love and warmth.

  • Supplies

    • Bay leaf

    • Rose Incense

    • lighter

    • marker

    • white tea light candle

    • tongs (optional - to hold the bay leaf)

  Begin this ritual with a prayer for clarity and peace of mind. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Use the lighter to light the white tea light candle and the rose incense (can be a stick or a cone incense) Sit for a moment and think of something in your life you'd like to bring new energy to. This could be a situation, a relationship, or a mind-set you are working through. Once you have figured out what area you want to focus on, use the marker to write it on the bay leaf. (Keep it short) Examples:

  • Work

  • Relationship

  • Finances

  • Mental Clarity

  • Love Hold the bay leaf in your hand and speak to the change you want to see in this area. You can do this out loud or in your head. Make sure to speak in positive phrases (I want peace at work vs I don't want to argue at work). When you are done speaking about the change you want to see, use the flame of the tea light candle to burn the bay leaf. Once your have completed this step, let the incense and the flame burn until they are done.
